Business Development

We help to create new products for unmet needs, marrying academic innovation with industry’s relentless search for novel products.

Our Business Development executives have negotiated a number of major strategic alliances between academics and clinicians at the University of Edinburgh/NHS Lothian and biopharmaceutical partners.

The strength and breadth of translational research on offer can be seen in the range of areas in which we’ve generated collaborations, from medical devices to novel therapeutics. These include generating new candidate drugs for acute pancreatitis with GlaxoSmithKline Ltd (GSK), bringing University researchers together with Biogen Idec to seek greater insight into the biological causes of multiple sclerosis and motor neurone disease; a reworking of the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease home alert system; and the identification of specific agonists with immunomodulatory properties for the treatment of atopic dermatitis.
